Apuntando ao Mar Symposium

Between 9 and 11 February, the Jofre Theatre in Ferrol hosted the international symposium Apuntando ao mar, organised by the Diputación de A Coruña, with the aim of studying from different angles the possibilities for the enhancement of coastal batteries and other military heritage located on the coast.

The event was structured around four round tables and a series of visits to the territory. The first two roundtables focused on history and heritage, while roundtable 3 dealt with coastal military heritage from the point of view of the landscape and the environment, and roundtable 4 focused on the study of this heritage from the perspective of tourism and its management and sustainable development.

Mario Crecente, coordinator of round table 4, presented the state of the art of the tourist-cultural revitalisation of coastal defensive heritage at different scales and gave way to three guests who presented three inspiring cases for the revitalisation of defensive architecture. Fiorenzo Meneghelli shared the case of the fortified line of Venice, Dirk Röder spoke about the Forte Cultura network and Natasa Urosevic focused on participatory management strategies in Pula.
