Moving forward on Ribeira Sacra’s nomination to be part of the World Heritage Site List.

Between April and December, Crecente Asociados carried out for the Cultural Heritage General Administration, different works of management and a draft of the application form for the nomination of Ribeira Sacra as part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.

A Ribeira Sacra is been included in the Indicative List of World Heritage since 1996; becoming the Spanish site that had spent more time in such list. To promote its declaration, which is based on the criteria established in the Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the World Heritage Convention, it is necessary to develop a cross-sectional analysis that identifies and presents the site from its Outstanding Universal Value (OUV), and its authenticity.

A part of the work commissioned to Creciente Asociados, consisted the studying of the integral properties of the World Heritage List and the Indicative List, as well as of other nomination of Cultural Landscapes. We share some of the conclusions drawn on the matter.
