Coordination of the nomination form of Ribeira Sacra to the World Heritage List

In September 2018 the Galician Directorate General of Cultural Heritage put Crecente Asociados in charge of coordinating and collecting the necessary information for the nomination form of Ribeira Sacra to the World Heritage List.
In this context, we completed the form according to the Operational Guidelines for the Implementation of the Convention concerning the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage.
With the collaboration of Ana Goy Diz as scientific director, the final form was based in the studies developed by experts from different fields during the last years, as well as in the planimetric and documental materials developed both by Crecente Asociados and the Galician Directorate General of Cultural Heritage, and in a wide participatory process.
During the meeting of the Spanish Historical Heritage Committee held in the Parador de San Estevo on April 4 and 5, Ribeira Sacra was unanimously approved as a new Spanish nomination for the World Heritage List. The nomination will be presented to UNESCO in February 2020 and will be evaluated in 2021.
This culminates a work that began in 1996 with the inscription of the Ribeira Sacra in the World Heritage Tentative List and it is the result of an intense work of research and participation. One of its main highlights is the declaration of this territory as an Asset of Cultural Interest in the category of Cultural Landscape in December 2018.
