Definitive approval of the Special Protection Plan for the As Catedrais Beach
On June 9, the Special Protection Plan for the As Catedrais Beach was approved. Promoted by the Ribadeo City Council, this plan was established as a priority in the General Plan for Urban Zoning . It was developed by the team formed by Mario Crecente y Asociados Consultores, GAU Arquitectura e Urbanismo and Ibader.
The final approval of the Special Plan is the result of a five-year work. The final document incorporates the prescriptions derived from the Strategic Environmental Assessment and the determinations of the reports issued by the involved administrations, including the Provincial Deputation of Lugo, the General Directorate of Coasts of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment and the Administrator of Railway Infrastructures (ADIF); as well as the allegations received during the public exhibition.
The fundamental objective of the Special Plan is to contribute to the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of this protected area, laying the foundations for the development of a sustainable tourism model that takes into account the needs of neighbors. Among the great innovations are the provision of an information and visitor service center and the organization of accessibility, with a clear commitment to the railway. At the same time, the necessary measures are established to maintain the traditional agricultural use of the land, with the conviction that this activity is a guarantee for the conservation of natural values.
