Draft of the Conxo Special Plan

Crecente Asociados handed over to the Consortium of Santiago the draft document of the "Special Plan for the protection and rehabilitation of the church, psychiatric hospital and monastery of Conxo with its gardens and orchards, access areas and surrounding areas (PE-1R)". The document is the result of intense historical, archaeological, environmental, architectural and documentary research that, accompanied by a participatory process, has made it possible to propose management alternatives for the current monastery enclosure and for the nuclei.

After its review by the municipal government of Santiago, the request to initiate the simplified strategic environmental assessment procedure will be sent to the General Secretariat for Quality and Environmental Assessment, together with the strategic environmental document.

After the strategic environmental assessment phase, the next steps are the initial approval, the provisional approval and the final approval, this last one could see the light of day in April 2024. In addition to guiding the maintenance, conservation, consolidation, restoration and rehabilitation interventions of the complex, the Special Plan must trace the perimeter of the buffer area of the property, included in the World Heritage List, together with the Old Town of Santiago de Compostela since 1985.
