Description:

Project targeting the touristic areas definition in Galicia, commissioned by the Secretary-General of Tourism. This project includes a comparative study on territorial organisation models in Spain; the definition of Touristic Destination, Touristic Area, Touristic Town and Touristic Place; the study of the divisions (comarcas) in Galicia established by different administrations and competencies; and, lastly, the relationship with planning mechanisms (Directrices de Ordenación Territorial, POL, Ley de Paisaje, etc.).

The proposal introduces the definition of homogeneous touristic areas depending on its resources, territory, product, image, consumption, and promotion, and it could be the base for an efficient development of planning and promotion policies. The Tourism to be incorporated in the new industry law is still in process.
