The project "Acciones de Mejora del Camino Inglés" (Update Actions on the English Way is part of a collaboration agreement between the Galician Tourism Agency, in the name of the Xunta de Galicia, and the Provincial Deputation, jointly financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
After the initial step of documentation, a desk study, and the surroundings analysis, the team of Crecente Asociados developped an intensive participation process as well as reconnaissance in the area. For this duty, specialists of diverse areas covered the English route from its two possible origins: Ferrol and A Coruña.
The outcomes of this work are grouped in three kinds of update actions: A. Restoring of deteriorated natural spaces and social awareness actions to promote a sustainable Way. B. Improving accessibility on all stages and developing a programme to remove architectural barriers in shelters. C. Using of new IT services in order to offer informative content about key points of the Way of Saint James through an interactive platform that sends the information to pilgrim's smartphones.
