Q de Quián
Q de Quián has been the motto used by our team for the Contest of Ideas, with Jury Intervention, for the Design of the Centre for the Promotion and Image of Agricultural, Farming and Forest products of Galicia, under the denomination "Galicia Calidade", on the property of Sergude, in the council of Boqueixón.
Our proposal analysed the situation of the rural areas pre-COVID-19, from a perspective inspired by the contents of the exhibition curated by Rem Koolhaas "Countryside, The Future": researched the past of the farm of Quián, to show it in the future to the world, as a mirror of our rural. To do this, the needs, uses and life cycles within the whole and face the outside were analysed.
The idea of the circular economy, which has been in the Galician countryside for centuries, led to our strategy of Reuse-Rehabilitate-Recycle, rounded with the new graphic image of the farm and with the formalization of an elevated ring to take a panoramic walk. The proposal improved existing buildings and complemented the uses and activities with new constructions added in the plot. One of the key pieces in terms of energy is the so-called House of Light, the energetic heart of the farm that mixed clean energies onto the walls of an old mini-hydroelectric plant.
Another aspect that became very relevant in the project was the farm organization of the property. Animal and crop rotation were also studied to provide a realistic and harmonious solution and to use all the available resources. Without losing sight of the visitor, for which roads with the Pico Sacro as the scenic background were recovered.
We are convinced that this new Sergude that we propose would represent the mirror of the future of rural Galician, which is surely written with Q de Quián.
