The best practises award of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe recognises the European Thermal Heritage Day

From 2nd to 4th October 2019 was celebrated in Sibiu (Romania) the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Advisory Forum.  This event included the Award Ceremony "Best practices in Cultural Tourism along the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe" to recognise best practices in Cultural Tourism and Sustainable Cultural Development.

The European Historic Thermal Towns and its Cultural Route was awarded for the commemoration of the European Thermal Heritage Day. The creation of this event, celebrated every year on 12th October since 2018, was an idea of Mario Crecente, Vice President of the EHTTA Scientific Committee.  It was designed in the European Year of Cultural Heritage with the objective of recognising Thermal Heritage as a specific European phenomenon.

In its two editions (Budapest 2018 and Spa 2019), this event has been structured into an official opening, a panel of conferences and two roundtables. Every year is also presented one specific study coordinated by the EHTTA Scientific Committee: "Thermal Tourism and Spa Heritage in Europe. The case of EHTTA", by Mario Crecente Maseda, Silvia González Soutelo and Paul Simons (2018) and "What'spa? SPA: A concept to be re-defined" by Mario Crecente Maseda, Mónica Carballo Neira and Paul Simons (2019). Both of them are available for download at the Publications section of this web.
