The European Spa Project final conference

Funded by the Humanities in the European Research Area (HERA) initiative, the project The European Spa as a Transnational Public Space and Social Metaphor (www.theeuropeanspa.eu/) investigates how the European Spa, with its characteristic institutions (such as the Kurpark, grand hotel or sanatorium) developed into a genuinely transnational public space.

Having worked on the topic since May 2019, the project's final academic conference was held in Pula / Brijuni Island (Croatia) from 2 to 4 June 2022. Mario Crecente, as President of the Scientific Committee of the European Historic Thermal Towns Association participated to present the EHTTA Association.

During his speech, Mario spoke especially about the flagship project of the EHTTA Scientific Committee, the Thermal Heritage of Europe Atlas, as well as the series of events organized annually by the Scientific Committee, like the European Thermal Heritage Day or the Café of Europe. Furthermore, he presented the International Congress on Thermal Tourism that will be held in Ourense in 27-28 September: https://thethermalcongress.com/

We congratulate the hosts for the wonderful organization of the event, as well as the speakers and students for their great work.
