The execution works of the kitchen roof of Santa Catalina de Montefaro Monastery (Ares) are finished

Crecente Asociados, commissioned by the City Council of Ares, has carried out the works management of the installation the Monastery of Santa Catalina de Montefaro’s new roof of the kitchen. In addition to the roof, the works included the restoration of the interior walls of the kitchen, the renovation of the carpentry elements and the retrieving of the original source.

The intervention has returned the roof to its original state and has solved the water filtrations, eradicating rust, leaks and detachments problems. In addition, the “cambota(lower part of the chimney that looks like a bell and collects the gases or smoke produced in the cooker) of the main hall and the outside of the wall were restored. Furthermore, the façade of the building was repaired and the partition wall that divided the main hall in two was removed.

During the works, elements of historical interest were found, including the original latrines of the monastery, an oven located next to the cambota and the old water channeling from the springs, all of which have been integrated into the final solution. The faces of the wall show signs from all periods and integrate a contemporary intervention by Ricardo Pérez.
