Coordination of the Ribeira Sacra nomination to the World Heritage List
On behalf of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Xunta de Galicia, Crecente Asociados is carrying out the coordination of the nomination of Ribeira Sacra to the World Heritage List. The works include all the necessary activities for the initial presentation of the complete documentation to the UNESCO.
The foundations of the new file, supported by the conclusions of the International Meeting of Experts “Waterscapes” and the Ribeira Sacra Declaration on Water Cultural Landscapes, are based on water as the guiding thread of the construction and evolution of the landscape. The delimitation of the proposed property benefits from the protection conferred by decree 166/2018, of December 27, declaring the cultural landscape of the Ribeira Sacra to be a site of cultural interest.
On March 9, Casa Grande de Rosende (Sober) hosted a session for community participation in the relaunch of the nomination. Coordinated by Xosé Gago, the session counted with the interventions of Cipriano Marín and Mario Crecente. Cipriano Marín, via telematic means, shared with the attendees the structuring ideas of the Outstanding Universal Value proposal, while Mario Crecente remembered the steps taken since 2016 and presented the upcoming milestones and calendar.
