International Landscape Workshop

From September 2 to 6, the International Landscape Workshop “In the footsteps of the Winter Way in the landscapes of the Ribeira Sacra” organized by the Juana de Vega Foundation, with the support of the O teu Xacobeo program and coordinated by Mario Crecente, is held in Sober, Lugo.

This first seminar will focus on the section that goes from Quiroga to Monforte de Lemos. Always keeping in mind the importance of the Ribeira Sacra, both landscape, cultural or natural. Understanding that the Winter Way is the natural access to Galicia from the plateau following the Sil River, an access already used by pilgrims as an alternative to the French Way.

The course will be distributed in visits, workshops and conferences, with speakers of prestige in the panorama of the Cultural Itineraries, of the Cultural Landscapes and experts of the patrimonial reality of the Ribeira Sacra and the Winter Way, which will illustrate the attendees contributing your perspective on the Ways of Santiago or the Ribeira Sacra.

The objectives of the Workshop will focus on reflecting on the delimitation of the Way and its historical territory, imagining the valorization and rehabilitation of the existing religious and civil cultural heritage, thinking about the improvement of services for the pilgrim, serving as an enhancer for local products, or study the areas of the tour to propose protection and development criteria.
