International Workshop on Landscape
From March 2 to 6, the second edition of the International Workshop "In the footsteps of the Winter Way in the landscapes of the Ribeira Sacra" was held in Chantada, Lugo. It was organized by the Juana de Vega Foundation, with the support of the program "O teu Xacobeo" and coordinated by Mario Crecente.
This second edition focused in the area Monforte de Lemos - Chantada, analyzed through a theoretical-practical methodology. Experts in Cultural Routes, World Heritage and Cultural Landscapes, as well as specialists in the Ribeira Sacra and the Winter Way participated in the conferences. The practical sessions was made up of visits to the territory and workshops. As a result, students learned about the state of this Jacobean route, its cultural heritage and the dynamics of the main economic activities in the territory.
Divided into three groups, the participants developed intervention proposals for three of the visited points of the Winter Way. Supervised by the organization, the students developed ideas for the rehabilitation of heritage, the improvement of services and the promotion of local products. The result was presented on the last day of the Workshop at the Auditorium of Chantada, in a public act.
