Nomination of the Ribeira Sacra for the World Heritage List (UNESCO)

During the last meeting of the Spanish Historical Heritage Committee held in the Parador de San Estevo on April 4 and 5, Ribeira Sacra was unanimously approved as a new Spanish nomination for the World Heritage List.

The nomination will be presented to UNESCO in February 2020 and it will be evaluated in 2021. The decision of the Committee is the result of the evaluation and the application form developed by a multidisciplinary team, under the scientific direction of Ana Goy Diz and coordinated by Crecente Asociados.

This culminates a work that began in 1996 with the inscription of the Ribeira Sacra in the World Heritage Tentative List and it is the result of an intense work of research and participation. One of its main highlights is the declaration of this territory as a Site of Cultural Interest in the category of Cultural Landscape in December 2018.
