Presentation of the book "A future for the land: cultural landscapes, rural management and geographical information systems. Ribeira Sacra”

On 27th November was presented in the Spanish Embassy in France the book "A future for the land: cultural landscapes, rural management and geographical information systems, Ribeira Sacra", edited by the Juana de Vega Foundation and coordinated by Mario Crecente.

This new publication congregates the proceedings of the homonymous Workshop, held on 8th & 9th November 2018 in Santo Estevo de Ribas de Sil. As a result, this book analyses, from different perspectives, how new digital technologies and especially Geographical Information Systems, can help to recognize the complex values of Cultural Landscapes and integrate these in management systems.

The event was opened by Roberto Varela, Cultural Advisor of the Spanish Embassy in Paris. It counted also with the participation of Enrique Sáez Ponte, President of the Juana de Vega Foundation; Isabel Aguirre de Urcola, Director of the Galician School of Landscape; Mario Crecente Maseda, coordinator of the Workshop and the book; and Paul T. Simons, member of ICOMOS UK. At the end of the event there was a tasting of Ribeira Sacra wines.
