Programme for the Improvement of Competitiveness and Revitalisation of Historical Heritage for Tourist Use

The Monastery of Santa Catalina de Montefaro (Ares, A Coruña) has been one of the proposals selected within the Program for the Improvement of Competitiveness and Revitalisation of Historical Heritage for Tourist Use, promoted by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

The intervention, designed by Crecente Asociados, proposes a set of actions that will allow the improvement of roofs; restoration and replacement of carpentry; rehabilitation of cloisters; reform of spaces; restoration of altarpiece, mural paintings and chapter house; kitchen equipment; landscaping; exterior lighting; and communication.

The Master Plan of the Monastery approved in 2008 and also developed by Crecente Asociados, included interventions that will be carried out within the framework of this project; adding to others already carried out such as the restoration of the Cabildo de Montefaro, the rehabilitation of the kitchen and one of the facades or the incorporation of ornamental lighting.
