On 29th September 2016, Crecente Asociados organised the conference Santiago Turismo Ordenado (STO), promoted by the Ministry of Equality, Economic Development and Tourism of the Santiago de Compostela Council.

This meeting, held in the Interpretation Centre of Parks and Gardens located in the Belvis Park, was the starting point for the revision of the Tourism Strategic Plan 2009-2015, laying the foundations for a related action, sustainable, agreed and adapted to its population, local entrepreneurs and tourists needs.

In the event, three experts in challenge management that participate in the touristic dynamics of Santiago de Compostela intervened. Jordi Torrella, Tourism and Event Director for the Economic Area, Enterprise and Occupation of the Barcelona Council, who presented the case of Barcelona; Violeta Matas, Tourism Responsible in Spain Convention Bureau and Thermal Towns in the Federación Española de Municipios y Provincias, who talked about the role of cities as meeting points; and Jordi Ficapal, Director of the Sustainable Tourism Observatory in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Sant Ignasi, who addressed the issue about the relationship between citizens and tourists.

The conference was attended by about 40 agents of local touristic sector (touristic lodgings, restoration, transport, event planning, tourism mediation, communicators, planners, etc.) and neighbourhoods, as well as other economic sectors, administration at different scales, and the Cathedral.

After this conference, the website santiagoturismoordenado.gal was launched to get more information about the STO and download the presentations of the three speakers, as well as an overview of the touristic diagnosis of Santiago de Compostela.
