Seminar-workshop "Barrios del Buen Vivir: Alternativas funcionales y estéticas para las nuevas comunidades urbanas"
Mario Crecente has participated as a speaker in the seminar-workshop "Barrios del Buen Vivir: Alternativas funcionales y estéticas para las nuevas comunidades urbanas" (Good Living Neighbourhoods: Functional and Aesthetic Alternatives for New Urban Communities), held on 26th and 27th June in the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the Universidad de Cuenca (Ecuador). This event was possible thanks to the support of the following organisations: Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (MIDUVI), SENPLADES, Bank of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (BIESS), National Secretary of Good Living and Coordinating Commission of Urban Committee and Territorial Planning.
His speech, "Ciudades Termales" (Thermal Towns), was about the concept of thermal towns as an ideal or utopia of good living from an architectural point of view. His statement covered main European cases (Baden-Baden, Bath, Spa, Vichy, Montecatini, Budapest, Karlovyvary, Franzbad, Marienbad and Ourense). Regarding the thermal capital city of Galicia, he made special references to the projects Ourense Ribeira Termal, Ourense Bouvette Termal and Auga Auria.
Finally, the presentation revised the experiences of network and route creation and development related to thermal towns, and ended with an anticipation of new projects that will be released in Europe in the coming years.
