The key is in Montefaro

Last Saturday 16th October we were lucky enough to present in the Monastery of Santa Catalina de Montefaro one of the works postponed by COVID-19.

The event was attended by municipal members of the Ares City Council, neighbors and people interested in the history of the Monastery. Mario Crecente and Rubén Santiago presented, together with the team of historians made up of Dolores Fraga and María Luz Ríos, the historical study and the drawings that allowed recreate the disappeared Gothic façade of the Monastery.

Based on the study of the existing pieces in the Cabildo de Montefaro and in the Archaeological Museum of the Castillo de San Antón de A Coruña, and on the historical references provided by the team of historians, Crecente Asociados established a hypothesis for the façade. The illustrator Ricardo Pérez transformed it into an image. The result is a comic that summarize the most important events in the history of the Monastery from its origin to the present day.

This documentation will be part of the Montefaro Cabildo website, so that it can be consulted. Maybe it might lead in the future to the discovery of the missing pieces drawn in the hypotheses.
