On occasion of the Lebaniego Jubilee Year 2017 and by request of the Government of Cantabria, Crecente Asociados designed a plan for the revitalization, development and promotion of tourism.
The final project, called "Tourism Plan for the Lebaniego Jubilee Year: a door to the inner", aims the contribution to the development and strengthening of Liébana as tourism destination and pilgrimage centre. Besides (and on occasion of the scheduled celebration) it pursues to work from the local to the global scale to promote the natural and cultural resources of Cantabria as a whole.
On the basis of the previous analysis and diagnostic, the Plan has three core strategies, each of them are divided into programes and specific lines of action.
The first of the strategies, "APPREACIATION", is oriented to protect and consolidate the basis of the Plan, this means the Way and its territory. For that purpose, the following programmes were established: Delimitation, Recognition, Research, Territoriality and Prospective.
The second one, "INTERVENTION", is focused on maintaining, improving and recovering those different resources (architectural, natural, cultural or touristic) that need actions related to conservation and improvement. Accordingly, we set the following programmes: Revitalisation of the Way, Creation of tourism infrastructures, Access, and Creation of Cultural Infrastructure.
The last strategy, "REVITALISATION", pursues the activation of resources by means of sustainable tourism (in line with the “WHS+ST” principles of UNESCO and UNWTO) capable of adding value to these resources and communicating an appropriate message. Five programmes were created to foster this strategy: Diversification of tourism offer, Promotion, Commercialisation, Information and Establishment of alliances.
