At request of the Provincial Government of Pontevedra, Crecente Asociados developed the Use and Management Plan for the Soutomaior Castle between April and June 2014.
The Plan pursues the activation of the different heritage resources linked to the Soutomaior Castle and its surroundings (natural, cultural and intangible). The final objective is to revitalise these resources from a cultural and tourism perspective and taking into account all the involved social actors.
The first step for the development of the Plan was the analysis of the Council of Soutomaior, inventorying and evaluating its cultural and natural heritage, as well as the offer of tourism services. Afterwards, it was studied in depth the area of the Castle, analysing its historical, architectonical and botanical evolution, the urban planning, the management strategies and the evolution of tourist visits.
After the diagnosis of the current state, and according to a previous study about tourism castles, the Plan establishes a set of proposals organised into the following strategic lines:
- Access and Accessibility
- Attention to the visitor
- Installations and Maintenance
- Tourist services
- Tourist and cultural uses
- Inner management
- Funding.
