Face Measurement of the Castle of Pambre

We have performed the face measurement of the Castle of Pambre, complementary to the construction work defined in the basic and restoration execution project concerning the Castle of Pambre (Palas de Rei, Lugo), under the guidance of Fernando Cobos and in collaboration with our partner Jorge Salvador, as project manager.

The information we handle was obtained from aerial photographs taken with a microdrone, a topographic survey performed with GPS and total station, a measurement carried out with a laser scanner and orthophotos from the SIT (Territorial Information System) of the Universidade de Santiago. On this measurement basis, detailed drawings of each parameter allow the performance of these analyses with the needed accuracy.

This report suggests an understanding of the structural stages of the Castle and it specifies a chronological sequence from the historical contextualisation of the parameter stratigraphic interpretation. The Castle architectural analysis is established as a starting point of view in three different fields, through the interpretation of stratigraphic units, structural systems related to factories, and functional aspects.

The results offer a complete view of the fortification evolution and it paves the way for new interpretations regarding its uses and architectures that will be reflected during the visit to the building.
