European Thermal Heritage Day 2020

The European Thermal Heritage Day was created as a celebration of Thermal Heritage and a opportunity to raise awareness of its importance at all levels.  The first edition was held in Budapest, coinciding with the 100th Anniversary of the opening of the Hotel Gellert, and the second on in the belgian town of  Spa.

On 16.10.2020 it was celebrated the third edition of the European Thermal Heritage Day, virtually hosted by the town of Baden-Baden and focused on the topic “Thermal Architecture”. It was structured into an opening, a session of presentations, a  roundtable and a tourist digital walking tour around Baden-Baden.

Mario Crecente participated in the session of presentions to reflect about the question “Does thermal architecture exist?”. This part of the event also counted on the participation of  Paul Simons, Secretary General of the Great Spas of Europe World Heritage Site Candidature, and Dr. Andreas Förderer, World Heritage and Tourism expert at Karlsruhe Chamber of Commerce.
